With an additional year of age, this 5-year-old rye brims with aromas of butterscotch, cardamom, dates and grapefruit, leading to a rich palate of dark caramel, licorice, gingerbread, and black pepper.
Every year, Pinhook releases a new bourbon and rye, each connected to a promising young thoroughbred. The whiskey in each release is the best expression of our barrels at that moment in time, and we blend and proof releases to be as unique as the horse on the label. The Vertical Series is a one-time opportunity to follow a group of barrels, all filled within months of each other, as they age.
With another year of age over the inaugural Vertical Series Tiz Rye Time, this five-year straight rye whiskey brims with aromas of butterscotch, cardamom, dates, and grapefruit. Notes of molasses and clove in the 4-Year Rye have developed into a rich pallet of dark caramel, gingerbread, and black pepper.

Tiz Rye Time is by “the big horse” sire Tiznow out of the graded stakes placed mare Shanon Nicole. Bourbon Lane purchased him from his breeder, Sierra Farm, for $200,000 at the Fasig Tipton October sale. He was a farm favorite and his dam has since been bred to the leading sire Into Mischief, Quality Road and Uncle Mo, some of the those who standing in KY. He was well balanced, athletic and just had that look about him of class. He broke his maiden in his second start and has earned KY Derby points but unfortunately was sidelined with an injury. Bourbon Lane is hopeful that he will resume training in the coming months and reach his potential late in 2020 and 2021.
